People sometimes ask me what happens during a Biosenetics session.
The simplest answer might be:
You arrive. I ask questions. And then the magic happens.
Which is not terribly helpful if you are the sort of person who would actually like to know what you are booking.
So let me try again.
Firstly, Biosenetics is not Reiki
People sometimes assume that because Biosenetics involves energy and I work with my hands on the body, it must be something like Reiki.
It isn’t.
In Reiki, as I understand and have experienced it, the practitioner places their hands on or near the person and allows the energy to flow. The energy goes where it goes without the practitioner actively directing the process.
Biosenetics is different.
It is an active, questioning and investigative process.
I don’t decide beforehand where your session needs to go. In fact, your body quite regularly has ideas of its own.
But once the work begins, I actively follow what presents. I ask questions. I observe. I sense. I check. Sometimes I clear something. Sometimes we need to investigate further. Sometimes something needs to be reprogrammed, completed or brought back into balance.
It is directed without being predetermined.
And to understand why I work that way, it helps to understand where Biosenetics began.
The body is the workbench
For me, the name Biosenetics contains the foundation of the work.
Bio — body.
Senetics — sensing.
The body is the workbench.
Whatever we believe about souls, consciousness, reincarnation, energy or the nature of existence, the physical body is here.
It has its own intelligence. Its own genetics. Its own history. Its own experiences, responses and priorities.
My own understanding goes further than that.
I experience the body not only as the carrier of its own history, but also as an expressive doorway for what I call the soul.
I tend towards the view that the soul has its own history, intentions and material too. There are things I believe and things I have experienced over decades of doing this work, but I don’t need to turn all of them into absolute truths.
There is still plenty I leave in the rather large basket marked UNKNOWN.
What matters in Biosenetics is the relationship between body and soul.
I don’t regard the body as a disposable meat suit that the supposedly more evolved spiritual part of us needs to escape. Nor do I think the body should simply be overruled in service of some higher spiritual agenda.
Ideally, I am working towards greater sovereignty for both — body and soul increasingly able to express their own potential in unison.
I sometimes think of that as the sacred marriage between body and soul.
And because the body is the embodied participant in that relationship — and the one with a mortal life — the body gets considerable say in what we do.
It usually starts with a question
Some people arrive with a list.
I have several regular list bringers.
Others arrive with one particular thing they want to work on.
And some lie down and say, “Whatever comes up.”
All are perfectly acceptable.
Then I start asking questions.
There is no right or wrong answer. I’m not testing you, and you don’t need to work out what answer I am looking for.
The question itself is part of the work.
One way I describe it is that the question helps us open the file where the relevant material is stored.
We open a file. See what’s there. Work with what presents. Check again.
Then perhaps another question opens another file.
Ask. Open. Locate. Work. Check.
And around we go.
Sometimes opening the file seems to be enough. Something that has been sitting there can simply clear.
Sometimes it needs more investigation.
I might tell you what I am sensing or perceiving and ask another question. That may lead us somewhere completely unexpected.
We might find emotion. A belief. A memory. Something connected with identity. A relationship. A physical location in the body. An energetic pattern.
Sometimes, within the metaphysical framework I work with, what presents appears connected with family or ancestral material, another time or place, or a past life.
I don’t need you to relive an entire past life so we can discover whether you once had an unfortunate incident with a goat in 1642.
We go far enough into the file to find what is relevant now.
Then we work with that.
Your symptom doesn’t necessarily set the agenda
You might come because your knee hurts.
That doesn’t necessarily mean your body wants me to begin with your knee.
Over the years I have seen physical symptoms change during or after energetic work, sometimes quite unexpectedly. I don’t claim that Biosenetics physically heals illness or injury, and it isn’t a replacement for appropriate medical care.
But within the way I work, I remain open to the possibility that a physical symptom may have more than one contributing layer.
So we ask.
And then we follow the body’s priorities.
The symptom may bring you through the door. It doesn’t necessarily get to set the agenda.
We can go almost anywhere — but you stay here
This is one of my non-negotiables.
During Biosenetics, I want you in your body.
People sometimes drift away, space out or disappear off somewhere internally during energetic work.
I bring them back.
We might open something connected with another time, another place or another level of experience, but you do not have to leave your body to do it.
In fact, I don’t want you to.
The whole purpose of my work is not to help the supposedly spiritual part of you escape the physical part.
Quite the opposite.
Biosenetics can go almost anywhere — but the client stays here.
No abandonment allowed.
Sometimes what isn’t yours is part of the problem
There are times when I perceive someone as carrying energetic material that doesn’t belong to them.
Depending on what presents, I might describe that in terms of cords, hooks, projections, resonance, inherited material or something else.
But simply getting rid of it isn’t enough.
If somebody has wandered through your energetic front gate and dumped their rubbish in the lounge room, I am interested in more than removing the rubbish.
Why was the gate open?
Why did this gain access?
Why did your system retain it?
And if something doesn’t want to leave, I don’t believe in getting into an energetic tug-of-war and pulling harder.
I want to know why it is hanging on.
Resistance is information.
Biosenetics doesn’t win a fight with your system. It finds out why the system is fighting.
Because ultimately your body isn’t here to become storage space for everybody else’s shit.
It has its own work to do.
It is here to carry and express you.
And yes, I belch
We may as well deal with this before you arrive and wonder what on earth is happening.
I belch during Biosenetics sessions.
Quite a lot sometimes.
It happens when I experience unwanted or negative energetic material being drawn out of someone’s field.
My working understanding is that this is simply the way my body discharges what I am interacting with rather than retaining it myself.
Does science have a neat explanation for what I experience?
Not one that I can give you.
Does it happen?
After decades of doing this work, I can confidently say yes, it bloody does.
Clients sometimes worry that it is hurting me.
It isn’t.
For me, the belching is simply part of the release process. My body does its peculiar thing, the session continues, and after decades of this I barely give it a second thought.
New clients, admittedly, sometimes do. 😂
Occasionally you bring company
Every now and then, I perceive a client arriving with what I experience as disembodied company — perhaps a deceased family member, friend or another presence.
They don’t automatically get to participate.
I generally ask them to leave until or unless they become relevant to the work.
A Biosenetics session is not an energetic open house.
You can leave.
If you’re required later, I’ll call you back.
Eventually the body says, “Enough”
Biosenetics sessions are generally about an hour.
Interestingly, bodies and souls seem remarkably capable of organising themselves around this fact.
We don’t need to wander endlessly through every interesting doorway we find.
We work while there is something to work with.
When something is complete, I leave it complete.
When nothing more presents, we stop.
Then I clear up the debris, settle the system, close any doors we have opened into other times or places, make sure you are properly back in your body and bring the session to completion.
No energetic doors left flapping in the breeze.
The part I can’t put into a protocol
I can teach you the questioning process.
I can describe the kinds of things I perceive.
I can explain how I follow the body, how I open files, how I check whether something has completed and why embodiment matters so much to me.
But there is another part that is harder to explain.
Me.
Biosenetics also depends upon my capacity to be present with you, to hold what arises, to perceive what I perceive and to deal with whatever turns up.
People have sometimes told me that my energy feels unlike anything they have experienced before.
A few have looked at me after a session and essentially asked:
“Who the hell are you?”
Fair question.
I still don’t have a particularly satisfactory answer.
And perhaps I don’t need one.
I have been doing this work for decades. I know what I do. I know what I have repeatedly observed. I know what people have told me about their experiences.
I also know there are things about it that I cannot explain.
I’m quite comfortable with that these days.
Science can keep what science can demonstrate.
I can keep what I experience.
And the rest can remain UNKNOWN.
So perhaps my original explanation wasn’t so bad after all.
You arrive.
I ask questions.
We follow what presents.
And somewhere in there, the magic happens.
Occasional belching included at no additional charge. 😂
